Thank you. Never would have known about this one. I think it will prove invaluable for me, a key to the puzzle of my self.

I had never heard of it either! I love that about these Public Domain finds. It's too easy to let "old" literature just fade into history, assuming it's all boring and dry. But every time I delve into the Gutenberg site, or the Internet Archive, I discover some new gem. I'm so happy Paul unearthed this one for us.

YES! It's miraculous and a little unnerving at the same time. Having the world and its literature at our fingertips. It's a gift, surely, but it's one you can get lost in. But this particular post from Paul, with that particular passage from Jack Black, was a personal gift that will have a lasting impact for me. Let's just say that I "lost" my mother at an early age, and my father too in some sense. They were there but not there, incapable of doing much real parenting during the time I needed them most. Long story and I may eventually write a memoir. I'm just saying that it's wonderful to have your story validated by someone else's story. Which is the gift, the great, good, gift that writing and reading can bring us. Thanks to both you and Paul.

This is all we can hope for, really: “I'm just saying that it's wonderful to have your story validated by someone else's story.” I’m so glad this story resonated for you. (And write that memoir!)
