In July of 2023 I made a trip with a friend to the far north of Norway to visit my Between Artists collaborator, Damon Falke, at his home in Straumsbutka. We stayed at a local farm inn, and one night walked the 3 miles to Damon’s house for a dinner he made for us. For a few days I immersed myself in a land so foreign to me, yet familiar from Damon’s writings of place.
I kept a journal, making simple sketches of the stunning landscape and writing of fleeting moments.
Here is one.
Wet hair dries
in the warm
Norwegian sun
Gentle breeze
on the water
Songbirds
between
the silence
