I read this wonderful piece of parental surrender after having visited my grandson. It had been a long time ... as he commented to me. Because I give him toys that captivate and encourage his self-learning, he likes having me around. Like you, I stay silent ... most of the time. It is not for me to correct him. And thus the joy ensues. Thank you for this.

oh this is a wonderful wonderful narrative of parenting, always imperfect, and redemption as a grandfather. dont forget the gift you are giving your daughters as they watch their dad's heart melt before their eyes - so very very sweet.

What an exquisite piece, filled with warmth & life-affirming wisdom. I have a friend who always makes the point that he is a far better grandfather than he was a father ~ his path took a different form & it was a joy to be taken on yours.
