what a great piece of writing, Ned. right now I am wanting to lean more into abstraction with my work. not easy. you captured all that. "She didn’t know what had moved her, but it was there in the sketchbook. Nothing extra, no overdubs." that is how the magic happens!

Gracias. Glad you liked it. Was fun to write.

Interesting story. Good characterizations and a good slice of life energy. I got a little confused with the lack of transition between her at the Jet Stream having breakfast, and her looking at her painting back at the studio. Otherwise, good flow and continuity.

Ned, this piece doesn't feel like a written word art piece so much as a cinematic flash depicting the action between things coming and going. It just takes off and lands so beautifully. Thank you for it. Inspiring. Just loved being invited into the world that breathes life into art. The scenery brushed, action, and hand at work, like the aliveness and light touch, or a true sketch. Thanks! I'm not much of a painter, but visualization is definitely part of a writer's toolkit.

What a compelling (& beautifully written!) slice of life...
